THE Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has joined the football fraternity in mourning the tragic death of FC Platinum midfielder Brian Banda who died from injuries sustained in a car accident at the weekend
Banda, 29, was widely regarded as one of Zimbabwe’s most disciplined and talented midfielders. Banda, a former Highlanders player and national team player earned widespread respect for his exploits on the field of play.
In a statement issued by the association, ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi expressed the nation’s profound grief at the loss.
“We are devastated by the loss of Brian Banda. He was a remarkable footballer and a humble leader, both on and off the field,” said Magwizi.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his teammates at FC Platinum, and all those who were touched by his life and career. Zimbabwean football has lost one of its finest.”
Banda’s dedication was also recognised by head coach Michael Nees.
“Brian’s presence in the Warriors squad was always felt not just through his talent, but through his discipline, his work ethic, and his respect for the badge,” Nees said. “This is a painful loss for all of us who had the honour of working with him.”
Known for his quiet strength and professionalism, Banda’s influence extended throughout the football community, earning him admiration across the country.
