Zifa sets November 22 poll candidates list deadline

THE Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) says the list of candidates for its upcoming elections will be released on 22 November, as outlined in its official electoral roadmap.

The association reaffirmed on Thursday that it will strictly follow the timeline to ensure a transparent and credible process. Candidates had until 21 October to submit their nomination papers, and those who filed were notified on Wednesday of the receipt of their documents.

“Yesterday (Wednesday) and today, the Zifa Electoral Committee was busy dispatching correspondence to confirm receipt of forms. Those with missing documents were also advised what to submit. There will be time for them to respond and for the electoral body to review the papers,” said the Zifa media department.

Zifa added that the process “underscores its commitment to transparency, accountability and inclusivity in football administration, ensuring that all members are fairly represented within the association’s structures.”

The nomination phase opened on 6 October for all eligible candidates across the game’s key structures, Area Zones, Beach Soccer, Futsal, Provincial, Women’s Regional and Men’s Regional Leagues.
Those who failed to submit complete paperwork have until 6 November to provide the missing documents.

“The Electoral Committee will communicate decisions of the first instance to candidates by November 7,” said Zifa.
The appeal window for any disqualified candidates will run from 8 to 16 November, followed by the publication of the final list of eligible candidates on 22 November. The elections themselves will take place between 6 and 15 December, spread across two weekends in different regions.

Zifa has urged all participants to respect the official roadmap and to “engage constructively” in the spirit of rebuilding governance and trust in Zimbabwean football.

The structures due for elections include,
Women’s Regional Division One Leagues
Men’s Provincial Leagues
Beach Soccer Football Association
Futsal Football Association
Area Zones
