ZIFA Southern Region has named a 25-member squad for a tournament against their Northern and Central Region counterparts to choose a Zimbabwe Legends Select that will face their Rest of Africa counterparts in Harare on February 27. The tournament kicked-off in Kadoma yesterday with the Central Region beating Northern Region 3-0.
The event is expected to run every weekend until February 21. Central Region will take on Southern Region next weekend at Luveve Stadium.
Southern Region coach Barry Daka said he gave preference to legends that were still fit and able to play.
“We’ve announced our squad and all the named players are readily available, fit and able to play. We’ve already started our preparations and I hope we’ll be able to show that we still possess that tactical and technical prowess, which is lacking in the present crop of players,” said Daka.
