THE Zifa technical director, Jethro Hunidzarira and education officer, Joseph Sibindi will tour the country’s provinces to meet technical people with a view of coming up with a national football philosophy.
This follows intense debate on the subject in coach social media groups around the country. Hunidzarira and Zimbabwe Saints and Botswana football legend, was appointed technical director four months ago.
He was given the mandate to revive football development structures and ensure grassroots development is structured and a reality.
Hunidzarira and Sibindi were supposed to have begun their countrywide tour on Monday but had to cancel it because of midweek fixtures. This would have seen referees and some of the coaches not attending his meetings.
He was due to meet coaches in Gweru on Monday morning and Bulawayo’s later in the day. He would have been in Hwange the following day, which was last Tuesday.
“I am supposed to be interacting with technicians, coaches, players, coach educators, legends and journalists. The topic is ‘Does Zimbabwe have a playing philosophy?’ If yes, what is it? If no, how do we create our own Zimbabwe playing philosophy.
It looks like we overlooked midweek league fixtures. So, we are rescheduling. We have had to postpone until the window when coaches will be free,” said Hunidzarira.
The findings from the interactions are supposed to be sent to Fifa by next week on Friday.“We are supposed to submit some of the stuff to the Confederation of African Football before mon5thend, unless they permit us to defer,” said Hunidzarira.
He is on record as saying any development resolution must have an input of the implementers so that there is consensus on the way forward for the Zimbabwe game. On our way forward for the game, we want input from the provinces to be in the development document we craft,” said Hunidzarira last month.
