ZIFA executive member Kudzai Kadzombe has called for stronger collaboration between football administrators and the media, saying a united front is crucial for the sport’s growth in Zimbabwe.
Speaking during a workshop currently underway at the ZIFA Village, Kadzombe told members of the Sports Writers Association of Zimbabwe (SWAZ) that football’s influence goes far beyond the pitch. She described it as a powerful national connector that mirrors the country’s hopes and passions.
“Football serves as a national network and a unifying force in Zimbabwe, where every match carries the hopes of millions.
“To ensure this story is told truthfully and powerfully, we must work together. Our partnership must be grounded in mutual respect, accountability, and professionalism.
“The media plays a vital role in informing the public and holding institutions like ours accountable.
“In turn, we are committed to being open and transparent, providing the information you need to tell stories that are fair, factual, and constructive. The spirit of today is one of partnership over popularity, and collaboration over confrontation,” she said.
The ongoing workshop aims to strengthen ties between football administrators and sports journalists, while aligning their shared responsibility to the nation’s fans and players. Kadzombe said the session represents a new era of engagement built on trust and communication.
