Zifa yet to announce Warriors squad

THE Warriors’ fans will have to wait for a few more days before they know the stars who will represent them in the 2017 Nations Cup qualifiers against Swaziland.

Last week, Warriors’ team manager Shariff Mussa indicated that they will announce the team today but it emerged the technical team were yet to finalise the final squad.

Yesterday, Mussa said there were some changes that were being effected to the players who had been earmarked for the games.

The manager said they were still within the two-week timeframe required by FIFA to sent invitational letters to clubs and there was no need to panic.

Yesterday, the social media, as part of its DNA, was circulating a false squad.

There is a strong belief that this time around Zimbabwe will again qualify for the AFCON finals after having last dined with the elite of African football in 2006 in Egypt.

Zimbabwe beat Malawi in Blantyre and then drew 1-1 against Guinea in Harare.

Swaziland are leading the Group L with four points and a superior goal difference.

And if the Warriors manage to collect six points in the back-to-back Easter weekend matches, then they would have thrust themselves into a very good position to qualify for the 2017 AFCON Cup finals.

Zimbabwe will still play Guinea (away) and Malawi at home.

The Warriors’ foreign-based players are enjoying fine form at their bases and that has cheered the spirits of the fans.
