Zim A prepare for Bangladesh tour

ZIMBABWE Cricket have announced a 20-man squad which will go into camp tomorrow in Harare preparing for the end-of-month tour to Bangladesh where they will play two Four-Dayers and three One Day matches.According to a statement from ZC, 15 Zimbabwe A players will leave the country on June 28 to play the longer version of the game and five of the members of the team will be replaced before the start of the One Day games.

“The squad of 15 players and five officials will fly out on the 28th of June to Bangladesh, for two Four-Day and Three One-Day matches against Bangladesh A. After the Four-Dayers, five players who are being groomed to be specialists in the 50-over version of the game will join the tour, with those they replace returning home.

“The tour itinerary will be released once it has been signed off.

“Zimbabwe A will go into camp on Tuesday for preparations at Harare Sports Club that will include a Two-Day game and two One-Dayers before they depart,” reads the statement.

Matabeleland Tuskers’ exciting top-order batsman Brian Juru makes it for both the Four-Dayers and the One Day tours with seasoned spin bowler John Nyumbu only making it for the longer version of the game.

Nyumbu will make way for Tafadzwa Kamungodzi who is among the five players that are being groomed to be 50-over version of the game specialists.

The other players viewed to be future stars in the One Day matches are Mashonaland Eagles and fringe national team batsman Sikander Raza, Joylord Gumbie, Neville Madziva and Forster Mutizwa.

Seasoned players also making it for both teams are wicketkeeper Raymond Mutumbami from the now defunct Southern Rocks, Mark Vermeulen, Shingirai Masakadza and Tinotenda Mawoyo.

Replacements for One Day Games: Sikander Raza for Vermeulen, Joylord Gumbie for Kaia, Tafadzwa Kamungodzi for Nyumbu, Neville Madziva for Chinouya, Forster Mutizwa for Waller
