exhibition, a medical business conference, regulatory seminar and an awards dinner ceremony, will provide a platform for the health sector players to showcase their products and services.
The expo director, Mr Shepherd Chakanza, said the expo would help attract international companies to partner with local companies in the medical and health sectors.
“The aim is to demonstrate to the world the medical knowledge, expertise and skills that Zimbabwe possesses hence to identify and close subsequent gaps.
“The expo will provide a strong strategic and technical keyhole for our indigenous health sector player,” he said.
Mr Chakanza added that it would help to ensure provision of quality products and services through strengthening and promotion of effective and systematic monitoring of positive and negative feedback through evaluation.
He said that the expo is also an innovative way of contributing towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals through the identification of business opportunities and promoting collaboration among health professionals, medical manufacturers, distributors, services users, stakeholders and policy makers.
“We will offer our exhibitors a unique opportunity to exhibit their merchandise and services,” said Mr Chakanza.
A medical business conference will be held on the last day of the conference to complement achievement of the MDGs.
“The medical business conference will co-ordinate in the improvement of overall availability of drugs, medical equipment, related medical supplies and complimentary services,” he said.
Mr Chakanza indicated that the medical business conference would address issues relating to resource mobilisation and the creation of an enabling environment for successful delivery of health services.
He added that the conference would mobilise stakeholders around national health services and in identifying funding and investment opportunities for the medical and health sector.
Delegates attending the conference will debate on meaningful participation of stakeholders, including the private sector’s contributions in achieving national health objectives.
Medical professionals, distributors, health agencies, manufacturers of medical equipment and related service providers to the medical sector in Zimbabwe and from different countries in Africa will attend the conference.
