RISING stars Zander Botha and Rachel O’Donoghue are this week taking part in the World Triathlon Development Regional Camp in Kilifi, Kenya preparing athletes for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

The camp, organised by World Triathlon and Africa Triathlon, is targeting potential YOG participants.

Botha and O’Donoghue left for Kenya on Monday, accompanied by national coach Pamela Fulton.

They join athletes from Kenya, Egypt, South Africa, Namibia, Mauritius, Rwanda, Zambia and Mozambique.

The camp will end with the YOG eligibility race scheduled for the weekend.

O’Donoghue and Botha are part of a six-member squad selected to try and secure slots for the YOG in Dakar, Senegal next year.

The other members are Olivia Beamish, Matthew Hildebrand, Ethan Donzva and Xander Stevenson.

Each federation is only allowed to send two participants for the camp.

The eligibility race is open to other interested athletes.
