ZIMBABWEAN bodybuilders stole the show at the Ultimate Nabba/ WFF South African Amateur Championships at the University of South Africa in Pretoria last Saturday.
Eleven Zimbabweans took to the stage in the South African capital city and of these, nine of them qualified for next month’s WFF World.
Championships Pro-Am in Mexico where they stand a chance to secure professional bodybuilders’ cards.
Kylie MacDonald, Lovemore Munyamana, Tapiwa Chibota, Marvelous Gandah, Prechard Hoko, Zibusiso Khumalo, Lancelot Ndlovu, Blessing Sithole, Gerald Woodend, Mark Vassilatos and Tatenda Mwakiwa took part in the show.
MacDonald won the Bikini Model under 163cm then clinched the Bikini Model overall title. Woodend took home the Juniors Under-23 with Zibusiso Khumalo second.
Khumalo was the winner in the Bermuda Beach Model Under-23. Prechard Hoko won the Men’s Novice and the Bermuda Beach Model under 172cm with
Marvellous Gandah second. Blessing Sithole popularly known as CC Banks in local bodybuilding circles was second in the Bermuda Beach Model over 172cm, Mark Vassilatos was runner up in the Men’s Extreme Body while Lovemore Munyamana also settled for silver in the Men’s Super-body. Cape Town-based Zimbabwean Mwakiwa won the Male Sports Model.
Hoko, Khumalo, Ndlovu, MacDonald, Munyamana and Gandah are from the Nathan Greenland-owned Body Works Gym in Bulawayo. Greenland was there in person to see his athletes put up a sterling display at the show.
