FORMER Highlanders and University of Zimbabwe volleyball ace Thulani Maphosa has been honoured in Eswatini for his outstanding contribution to the growth of the sport in that country.

Maphosa, who has become a respected figure in African volleyball circles, received a medal of recognition on Sunday for his work in shaping the game across clubs and communities in Eswatini.
“It was presented on Sunday for my contribution to improving Eswatini volleyball across clubs, including setting up teams and building a base of players and coaches for the country and making an impact,” said Maphosa on Tuesday.

The former utility player has steadily climbed the ranks and is now a Confederation of African Volleyball Federations (CAVB) instructor, a role that sees him train and mentor coaches across the continent.

Now based in Malawi, Maphosa continues to fly the Zimbabwean flag high as he helps develop volleyball in the region and across Africa.
