A Zimbabwean designer and music promoter based in South Africa, Clement Tinashe Hwata is making strides in the fashion industry after launching a successful clothing line.

The clothing line is called RTG and it has attracted quite a number of people in SA and in Zimbabwe including dancehall stars, Freeman and Kinnah.

“I started this label in 2013 with my cousin Tafadzwa Lesy Muvhiyi who later dropped after some time. RTG stands for Real Top Gallis and we decided to name it after a Gallis party that was hosted in the Uk. The party was attended by successful people so we decided to call ourselves the real top gallis,” said Hwata.

The 30-year-old designer who is already penetrating the music scene says he was inspired by music to start his clothing line.

“I am a music promoter so I always work with a lot of big people in the music industry. I was inspired by the hard works of Bodyslam and Dreamstone and it pushed me to follow my passion of owning a clothing line,” said Hwata.

He already owns a fashion shop in South Africa and plans to have another in Zimbabwe.

“My aim is to open another store like the one I have in Durban, however my label is already available in Chitungwiza at Makoni flea market,” said Hwata.

This month, Hwata will be showcasing in South Africa’s Mzansi fashion show which will be held on July 26 in Cape Town.

“I will not stop working till I achieve my goals. I want my clothing line to reach all boarders and I want to work with the best in music. Currently as RTG, we are hosting events from weddings to parties with the help of Travel Exclusive owner, Fionah Taruvinga,”said Hwata.
