THE Zimbabwe Digital Team is optimistic of a bright future in its quest to dash from analogue broadcasting to digital broadcasting.
Forget Tsododo from Zimdigital, said new channels would have a digital standard.
“We are just showcasing equipment that was acquired by the Government and this is giving us high definition standard which is a standard that has been set for digital channels that are coming,” he said at the organisation’s stand at the ZITF.
“The Government has set up a content committee that handles proposals from independent producers, the proposals are scrutinised and if they are successful one can be assisted with equipment,” said Tsododo.
Zimdigital is impressed by the reception of the digitilisation project around Zimbabwe, especially in areas that had no access to television and radio for a long time.
“People have been coming through, a lot of people have done productions, it’s actually the equipment that is not enough to assist everyone but the turnout is satisfying,” he said.
He also spoke about the benefits of digitalisation to the nation in terms of preserving culture through entertainment.
“The good thing about digitalisation is that it has endless opportunities for everyone, for those who are professionals in broadcasting it means the industry is widening up and they will have chances of getting employed, viewers will be spoilt for choice in terms of channels, there will be no more poor picture and sound quality. The viewers will be able to watch locally produced content,” he said.
