‘Zim Got Talent’ saga takes new twist

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe has distanced itself from the feud surrounding the Zim Got Talent name which saw two organisations fighting over rights to the name last week.

The Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe insists it launched the Zim Got Talent, a talent search show which was meant to identify talent from across the country and nurturing it. But on Monday another organisation, Ke Nako Media, popped up claiming to be the legitimate owners of the name.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, NACZ communications officer Catherine Mthombeni said neither organisation is registered with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe.

“Zim Got Talent does not appear in our register of registered arts associations and promoters,” she said. Meanwhile, Ke Nako Media, who are claiming to be the legitimate owners of the name Zim Got Talent, admitted they were not yet registered with NACZ.

“We are not yet registered with NACZ but it is in the pipeline. We are actually communicating with them,” she said.

“Ke Nako Media are proud to announce that we shall be bringing the official Zimbabwe’s Got Talent TV series format to Zimbabwe this year,

“Ke Nako Media will be the official franchise licence holders of Zimbabwe’s Got Talent and later on Zim Idols,” read part of their statement released last week.
