The Zimbabwe Homeless World Cup team has received a boost with Chicken House sponsoring part of their air tickets and logistics ahead of their trip to Oslo, Norway.
The team, comprising eight female players, will make their debut as an all-female squad in the tournament.
They are expected to leave for the annual competition in Young Achievement Sports for Development with the hope of bringing home some medals. During yesterday’s handover ceremony Chicken House director Trevor Muromo said he is happy that they have come on board to support the Zimbabwe Homeless World Cup-bound team.
“We are proud to be partnering the Homeless World Cup team in terms of supporting the initiative. We are proud to be bringing the girl child into the limelight.
“As Chicken House, we saw this as an opportunity to try and stimulate young women to get away from whatever distractions that are disrupting them from being focused in life and pursuing their dreams,” said Muromo.
YASD, who coordinate the Zimbabwe Homeless World Cup team, noted that the move was necessitated by a need to encourage participation across the gender divide.
Homeless World Cup Zimbabwe team coordinator Petros Chatiza said they are pleased to have some corporates coming on board and are looking forward to engage more partners.
“We are very happy to have partnered with Chicken House who have come on board to sponsor part of the air tickets and uniforms among several sponsorships for the team.”
Zimbabwe will be making an 11th appearance at the Homeless World Cup, which is being held for the 20th time.
