Zim-Kenya Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation begins

The 4th Session of the Zimbabwe-Kenya Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation began in Harare today with the opening of the senior officials’ meeting.

The JPCC comes ahead of the State Visit by Kenya’s President William Ruto who is also expected to officially open the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) that begins in Bulawayo tomorrow.

In her remarks, acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ambassador Rofina Chikava said the meeting is a confirmation of the strong bilateral ties between the Zimbabwe and Kenya.

“These cordial relations continue to grow from strength to strength, and this has been demonstrated by, among other things, the continued exchange of high-level visits and continuous engagement by our two Presidents at various fora,” said Ambassador Chikava.

Kenya’s Director for Africa in the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Ambassador Dennis Mburu said it is important to lay out implementation frameworks for all agreed projects.

“As we embark on this session, let us finalise and execute pending agreements. This is a powerful moment for us, even as we seek to deepen our relationship.

“As we do so, let us press emphasis on ensuring that we have a robust implementation framework of what we come up with today and in the future,” said Ambassador Mburu.
