More than 36 Zimbabwean lady golfers travelled to Lusaka at their own expense to support and compete in the Zambia Open Stroke Play, held at Lusaka Golf Club from June 26-28, 2026.
The Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union Executive Committee played a pivotal role in facilitating the participation of two junior golfers, Listiah Bangura and Rosebud Musakasa.
The union acknowledges the generous support of “Huzhegu”, a group of passionate golfers who contributed US$500 towards the juniors’ travel costs.

Thanks to this collective effort, the juniors gained valuable experience competing at regional level against players from eight countries.
Listiah Bangura finished 7th overall, while Rosebud Musakasa finished 12th overall out of a huge field of over 150 players.
In line with governance protocols, ZLGU requested all travelling ladies to submit personal details for clearance through the sports and Recreation Commission.
The Union also formally engaged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade through the SRC to request a courtesy meeting with Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Zambia, Mrs Charity Charamba.

The delegation was warmly received at the Ambassador’s residence in Lusaka, and Her Excellency graced the prize-giving ceremony at Lusaka Golf Club — a highlight that underscored the strong ties between sport and diplomacy.
Looking Ahead
Zimbabwe will host its own Zimbabwe Ladies Stroke Play Championship from September 4-6 at Borrowdale Brooke Golf Club. With more than 10 countries expected to participate, the tournament is set to be a landmark event on the regional calendar.
