ZIFA’S Transfer System matching officer Timothy Mazhindu says Zimbabwe is now at par with the rest of the countries in adopting the latest trends in registering players with the Confederation of African Football for all competitions.Last month Mazhindu was in Cairo, Egypt, where he attended a refresher course for Caf affiliates aimed at updating them on the Player Registration System.
The PRS was required in the registration of players of the teams participating in the Caf inter-clubs competitions with Mazhindu registering players for Dynamos and How Mine.
“This system is an online platform where teams can be able to register players for the Caf competitions instead of the old ways of faxing names. This system has been changed from last year’s because of security reasons,” said Mazhindu.
Caf has set January 15 as the deadline for clubs to submit additions to their lists and Mazhindu said his systems were in place.
“When I went to Cairo last month I carried the lists that had been given to me by Dynamos and How Mine. Both Dynamos and How Mine have until January 15 to make additions to their squad but the additions will attract penalties.
“From the discussion I have had with the clubs, it appears both teams are content with their squads and are unlikely to make additions. But if the need arises, I will go to the log-in details for Zifa and then make the registrations online,” said Mazhindu.
