ALTHOUGH Zimbabwe heavily lost their first of two Tests to the West Indies by 117 runs at Queens Sports Club on Tuesday, the Chevrons still had something to cheer for as their top players moved up the Test rankings.

Captain Graeme Cremer, who took four for 64 and four for 114 against the Windies, has moved up 12 places into 45th position on the latest MRF Tyres ICC Test Player Rankings for bowlers.

Sean Williams, who bagged three for 20 and three for 91, has moved up 19 places to share 70th position with Sri Lankan Lahiru Kumara.

In the batting table, opener Hamilton Masakadza, who scored 42 and 57 runs, has shot up seven places to 49th, while Brendan Taylor, who scored one and 73, has returned to the rankings in 37th position alongside Windies batsman Roston Chase.

The Test player rankings will be updated following the conclusion of the second Test, which starts in Bulawayo on Sunday.
