ZIMBABWE’S Covid-19 fatalities continue to be on an upward trend after the country recorded 62 deaths on Wednesday, an increase from 50 which was recorded on Tuesday.
Over the past couple of months the number of new cases and deaths due to the pandemic have been increasing daily which led the government extending the enhanced level four national lockdown.
According to statistics released by the Ministry of Health and Child Care, on Wednesday the country recorded 2 705 new cases and 62 deaths with the positivity rate from the 12 636 samples tested standing at 21,4 percent.
“2 705 new cases (all local) and 62 deaths reported today (Wednesday), seven-day rolling average for new cases falls to 2 105 from 2 163. 1 472 new recoveries: national recovery rate stands 66 percent, active cases go up to 28 684.
“As at 21 July 2021, Zimbabwe had 91 120 confirmed cases, including 59 627 recoveries and 2 809 deaths. To date, a total of 1 292 642 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19,” reads the update.
In terms of hospitalization the Ministry reported that they were 737 hospitalised cases, new admissions 85, asymptomatic 235, mild to moderate 412, severe 67 and 23 on Intensive Care Units.
