Zim records over 2 500 new local Covid -19 cases

Zimbabwe recorded 2 661 new local Covid -19 cases as the infection rates continue to increase in the country.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC), the new cases are from all the country’s 10 provinces with Mashonaland East province recording the highest cumulative cases of 338 as at July 12.

The country recorded 70 426 cumulative cases, 2 236 deaths and 49 932 recoveries as at the same date.

The deaths are from the country’s nine provinces except Matabeleland North

According to the Ministry, a total of 7 037 Covid -19 tests were conducted as at July 12.

On the same date, a total of 30 332 people received their first vaccine doses bringing a total of 926 312 people being vaccinated with the first dose vaccine.

A total of 10 139 people received their second dose as at July 12 bringing the total to 605 556 people vaccinated.

Some of the hotspots include Karoi, Sanyati, Zvimba, Kariba, Mazoe, Centenary, Mwenezi, Chiredzi and Masvingo.

The national recovery rate now stands at 67 percent

The country is now on national lockdown level 4.
