THE cart-pushing musician Knowledge NkiwaneA� has been nominated in three gospel categories in South Africaa��s Gauteng Gospel Music Awards.
Nkiwane drew attention back home and across the South African border with his never-seen-before way of promoting and selling his music.
He walks around a selected area with a pushcart blazing his music through a public address system.
When he feels like it, he does impromptu performances on the streets while people buy his music.
It turns out his music is good after all. He has been nominated alongside the likes of Gospel Lifters, Monica Ncube, Siphehlengwa and TT Kunene.
Speaking from South Africa he said he was humbled by the recognition.
a�?This is a sign of Goda��s grace at work.A� The nomination shows that Ia��m doing something right. Even if I dona��t get to win I have realised that people appreciate my work,a�? he said.
The Ungumlilo Lento composer didna��t think he would get a nomination at this time of his career.
a�?I didna��t expect it! They called to tell me that I had been nominated,a�? he said.
Nkiwane has never received any awardsA� or recognition back home.
