Zim team for All Africa Pool Games in SA

A NATIONAL pool team is gearing up for the All Africa Pool Games scheduled for Secunda, South Africa at the end of October.
Wellington Chikasha, the Zimbabwe Pool Association (ZIPA) technical director said the team was chosen at a national tournament held in Chitungwiza in July.

“We have a team of six men and six women heading to Mpumalanga, South Africa for the All Africa Pool Games taking place from 24 to 28 October. This is an annual event, we hosted it in 2017. Last year it didn’t take place,’’ Chikasha said.

In terms of the players getting together, Chikasha pointed out that the ZIPA technical officials were working on that. The team is made up of players coming from Bulawayo, Chitungwiza, Harare and Kadoma.

“Our technical officials are working on a training programme, camping and travelling logistics for the team going. The team is made up of players from Bulawayo, Chitungwiza, Harare and Kadoma,’’ he said.

The selection process started from provincial level in April then a national tournament was staged in May where players were shortlisted with the final choosing done at an event held in Chitungwiza in July.

Men: Stephen Paswani, Benjamin Mabugu, Obedience Lewis, Clemence Gutse, Alpher Office, Ronald Mutikani.
Women: Alice Chiota, Charity Ncube, Abigail Sendi, Patricia Ganya, Christine Sengwe, Robin Gillgower.
