Zim to recall Zwambila

Jacqueline Zwambila who has been accused of  conduct not befitting a diplomat that include stripping in front of embassy staff among other allegations.
Ambassador Zwambila has been in the news for the wrong reasons since the beginning of the year after she allegedly stripped in front of male embassy staff after accusing them of leaking information to The Herald.

She also allegedly made sexual advances and ill-treated an MDC-T activist, Mr Felix Machiridza she had taken to Canberra on the promise she would secure employment for him.
Highly placed Government sources yesterday confirmed that the Government had decided to recall Ambassador Zwambila last month after investigations into allegations against her were completed.
“The decision to recall Ambassador Zwambila was reached last month and it was communicated to the MDC-T leader, Morgan Tsvangirai so that he recommends another person to take up the posting.

He has, however, up to now not yet responded to that communication,” the source revealed.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Simbarashe Mumbengegwi could not comment on the 4matter yesterday.
“No decision has been made on that, as you are aware ambassadors are appointed by the President and we are there as Ministry of Foreign Affairs to communicate his decisions,” he said.

Another source, however, said the MDC-T could be trying to protect Ambassador Zwambila by not responding to the communication to recommend her replacement. Ambassador Zwambila was appointed to represent Zimbabwe in Australia last year as part of the fulfillment of the Global Political Agreement. She has, however, attracted controversy and was accused of establishing a Zimbabwe embassy website that had the Australian coat of arms. She is also alleged to have and disputed the existence of illegal sanctions against the country despite the three parties acknowledging them in the GPA. MDC-T spokesperson, Mr Douglas Mwonzora, said he was unaware of any communication on the matter.

“I am not aware of that but in any case I will refer you to our secretary for international affairs Jameson Timba,” he said.
Mr Timba who is also a minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, immediately switched off his phone when reached for comment. PM Tsvangirai’s spokesperson Mr Luke Tamborinyoka’s mobile phone was barred for incoming calls.
