ZIMBABWEAN trio of Benjamin Follet-Smith, Stuart Krog and Robson Chinhoi all failed to make the cut at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at La Réserve Golf Links, at the Heritage Golf Club in Mauritius at the weekend.
They were trying their lucky in DP World Tour, formerly European Tour, co-sanctioned tournament.
AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open had a prize fund of US$1,2 million and the winner walking home a whopping $204,000.
The Zimbabweans were part of the field that travelled all the way to Mauritius after taking part in the Alfred Dunhill Championship last week.
Taking part in the eighth edition, of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, Follet-Smith completed the two qualifying rounds on five-over-par with rounds of 73 and 75.
Krog on the other hand was a short above on six-over with rounds of 74 and 76 while Chinhoi was on ten-over par with rounds of 76 and 78.
This year’s tournament at the spectacular La Réserve Golf Links included a golf clinic in association with the Mauritius Golf Federation, the AfrAsia Bank Foundation and the local chapter of the global charity Caritas.
The tournament was won by seasoned professional Louis Oosthuizen, a Major champion who has been ranked as high as fourth in the world and has achieved an abundance of accolades in a stellar career.
