ZIMBABWE and the United Kingdom have recorded a 15,6 percent increase in trade from April 2024 to March 2025 compared to the 2023/24 period, the UK Department for Business and Trade has announced.

Official figures released last Friday reveal that total trade between the two bilateral partners currently stands at $483 million, registering a $65 million increase from the previous total of $418 million.

During the period under review, Zimbabwe’s imports amounted to $235 million, an increase of 28,3 percent or $51 million, while its UK exports amounted to $248 million, registering a 5,6 percent or $13 million increase compared to the previous year’s records.

Zimbabwe exported vegetables and fruit, metal ores and scrap, beverages and tobacco, and jewellery and works of art to the UK, while importing cars, road vehicles (excluding cars), general industrial machinery, and medicinal and pharmaceutical products.

“Of all UK imports from Zimbabwe in the four quarters to the end of March 2025, $7,9 million or 3,2 percent were goods and $240 million or 96,8 percent were services.

“In the same period, UK imports of goods from Zimbabwe increased by 50 percent or $2,6 million in current prices, compared to the four quarters to the end of March 2024 while UK imports of services from Zimbabwe increased by 4,6 percent or $10,6 million in current prices, compared to the four quarters to the end of March 2024,” the UK Department for Business and Trade said.

The UK reported a decreased total trade deficit of $13 million with Zimbabwe, compared to a deficit of $51,7 million registered between April 2023 and March 2024, while it had a trade in goods surplus of $60 million by March 2025, compared to a surplus of $53 million at the period ending March 2024.
