THE Zimbabwe National Ladies Bank Angling Team will hope to defend their title when they take part in the Region 5 Angling 2017 competition to be held at Hardap Dam in Namibia next month.

South Africa are the third team that will take part in the event scheduled for 12 September. The players that have been selected to defend the title are Dama Kendall-Ball, Natalie Adlam, Tups Paterson, Cheri Ford and Stacy Bailey. Zimbabwe took on Namibia as well as South Africa in the Region 5 competition in 2016 and won the gold medal in South Africa at Vaal Dam.

ZNLBAT public relations officer Kirsty Alexander said they have embarked on various fund-raising ventures to meet the costs of participating in the competition. The full budget for Zimbabwe to participate at the event is $3 500.

“Even though the costs of representing the country in the sport are prohibitive, the team is trying to raise enough funds so that it competes at full strength,” she said. — @j_Sihwa
