The event is the biggest tournament on the local calendar, in women’s golf, and will see the golfers battling it out to be crowned the 2012 Zimbabwe champion.
Claire Minter, the country’s top woman golfer, is the defending champion in the event that will also feature players from Zambia and Botswana.
Minter was given a good run last year by Brenda Leipe, who had the first round lead, and Zambian Mellisa Nawa.
The golfers had a break yesterday after taking part in the A and B Divisions, won by the host country, but today will be back in business. Two championship from Divisions A and B will take to the field today while the C Division players will tee off tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the A and B triangular series has been described as a huge success.
The Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union public relations officer, Evelyn Maisvoreva, saluted all those who took part and turned it into such a success story.
“The tournament was good and the girls enjoyed themselves.
“It was highly competitive and we are happy to host such a successful event. It is still game on but everyone looks like they are enjoying every moment,” Maisvoreva said.
