ZIMBABWEAN youths are set to exchange notes with their Indian counterparts on how to exploit natural resources and technology to generate wealth.
India, which is fast rising economically, will see one of its leading academic consultants Global Arcus coming to Zimbabwe to share experiences.
There will also be visits to Harare high schools to educate young people on the dangers of drug and substance abuse which is a growing concern.
A local youth empowerment organisation under the 263 Youth Hub, Mobishop Two Six Three Connect, will be hosting Ms Pragati Srivastava, the director of Global Arcus.
Mobishop Two Six Three Connect founder Mr Tendai Makiwa said preparations for the visit were at an advanced stage with focus being on establishing local markets, particularly those frequented by young people.
“Youths can actively participate in using natural resources, technology and social media sustainably to generate wealth, solve community problems and achieve personal empowerment,” he said.
“Active and effective youth participation in economic and socio-political activities is crucial for Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 of becoming an upper-middle-income economy.”
Mr Makiwa said the Youth Hub was striving to provide high-quality operations that ensured equal access to information and opportunities for all youths.
“This aligns with the Government’s National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and President Mnangagwa’s vision of ‘leaving no one behind’. We believe inviting Global Arcus will provide our youths with first hand information,” he said.
Mr Makiwa said the 263 Youth Hub, established in August 2023 under Mobishop Two Six Three Connect, is an interactive platform designed to support and empower Zimbabwean youths.
It fosters interconnectedness, collaboration, scholarship opportunities and helps nurture small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and individuals into successful brands.
