ZIMA gets bigger, better

years, organisers have assured the nation that the show will retain its glitter and glamour reminiscent of the MTN SAMAs which were recently held in Sun City, South Africa.
The awards are expected to take place later this year. But what is it that musicians and music lovers can expect at this year’s awards show? According to Nhamo Tutisani, a passionate music lover and follower, who has been thrust into hot seat to turn around the fortunes of the ZIMAs, there is a great deal of work going on behind the scenes.
“We recently attended the MTN South African Music Awards to try and see how best we can put together a show which can equal if not better what we saw in South Africa.
“Basically, the nature of the production that we want to put together needs a lot of resources hence the need to invite our South African counterparts to work with us in making the awards show a success,” Tutisani said.
Though he is a man of few words, Tutisani is results-based sort of person who wants things done to perfection.
However, together with his team, they all   enjoyed what they saw at the SAMAs where Zahara begged not one, not two but eight awards for her debut album “Loliwe”.
Perhaps what music lovers and fans are going to see at this year’s ZIMAs is something that will not only give pride in being Zimbabwean but also inspire more such shows in future. One of the many highlights is that the show will revive competition among musicians and give credence to outstanding performers from record stables, music shops and radio stations in Zimbabwe.
Secondly, the whole set-up of the show will be bigger and better in terms of performances, stage work, lighting and arrangement.
There are key partners who will ensure that everything goes according to plan as well as sponsors, making ZIMA a must-attend show.
