Zima honours outstanding managers

The Zimbabwe Institute of Management will today host the 2014 southern region manager of the year awards aimed at promoting best management and leadership practices at senior and executive levels. This year’s awards will be held under the theme “quality improvement, a key driver to enhancing competitiveness – the leader’s role in Zimbabwean growth paradigm/matrix”.

Southern regional awards cover Bulawayo province, Masvingo and Matabeleland North and South provinces as well as the Midlands.

Zima regional manager Felistas Sakone said the awards were an annual event meant to honour outstanding persons for their contribution to management in Zimbabwe.

“Over the years, the awards have evolved but remain focused on identifying, recognising and rewarding disciplined managers that perform beyond set targets,” she said.

Sakone said the winners at today’s event would participate in the national competitions in Harare.

The awards cover categories such as the manager of the year, private sector manager of the year, public services manager of the year and young manager of the year.
