The Research Council of Zimbabwe has recorded an increasing number of foreign researchers taking an interest in conducting research in the country, a clear indication of the positive outcomes of the Second Republic’s re-engagement drive.
Council chairman, Professor Zororo Muranda told the seventh annual general meeting of the RCZ that the number of registered foreign researchers has increased from 250 last year to 300 this year.
“There was a remarkable increase in the number of foreign researchers registered,” he said.
Prof Muranda hailed the Second Republic for its open door policy and said this has helped the country to interact with foreign researchers and find solutions to the country’s challenges.
“The RCZ will continue to build strategic partnerships to generate funds needed for high-impact research. Research is the cornerstone for Zimbabwe’s transformation as we traverse towards becoming an upper middle income economy by 2030,” he said.
