ZIMBABWE Cricket (ZC) on Friday named a 15-member women squad for the T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament that will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 18 to 25 September.
Zimbabwe are in group B with Thailand, Papua New Guinea and the hosts UAE.
In a statement, ZC said the team will be captained by Mary-Anne Musonda and the vice captains will be Josephine Nkomo and Modester Mupachikwa, who missed an 18-day training camp in India last month.
The team’s ongoing preparations for the qualifiers will continue with a tour to South Africa where they will play five T20 matches against South Africa’s Emerging Women team.
The matches are scheduled for 28, 29 and 31 August and the last two are set for 2 and 3 September.
After the South Africa tour, the Lady Chevrons will travel to UAE for a quadrangular series against Thailand, United States of America and UAE, which will be their final preparations.
The other qualifying group has Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland and the United States of America.
The two teams that will make it to the final will qualify for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 that will be hosted by South Africa.
