Dr Mati Hlatshwayo Davis has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at the Missouri Foundation for Health, marking a major leadership milestone for the Zimbabwean-born physician.
She officially assumes the role on February 23, 2026.
In her new position, Dr. Hlatshwayo Davis joins CEO Dwayne Proctor on the executive team, where she will help steer the Foundation’s mission to advance health equity across Missouri.
Her portfolio includes aligning strategy with policy to dismantle systemic barriers to care, strengthening cross-sector partnerships to address root causes of health disparities, and amplifying community-driven solutions to ensure all Missourians can thrive.
Dr. Hlatshwayo Davis brings an extensive public health track record to the role. As Director of Health for the City of St. Louis, she led a sweeping modernization of the city’s health infrastructure, including the launch of its first Behavioral Health Bureau, expansion of mobile health initiatives reaching more than 13,000 residents in underserved communities annually, and securing national reaccreditation for the department.
A graduate and former faculty member of Washington University School of Medicine, she is also a board member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and a respected global health voice, frequently contributing expert analysis to major international outlets.
Her appointment positions her at the forefront of shaping equitable health systems at both state and national levels.
