Zimbabwe Gears Up for SADC Summit: Technical Team Arrives to Finalise Logistics

Zimbabwe welcomed a team of SADC technical experts on Wednesday, who are in the country to assess its preparedness to host the 44th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, set to begin on August 8

The team will spend six days in the country, engaging with technical committees and finalising logistical arrangements for the indaba

In a statement on Thursday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade spokesperson Mr Michael Makura said the team will also evaluate Zimbabwe’s readiness to host the SADC Industrialisation Week, which begins on July 28.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade wishes to advise the nation that the third and final SADC Technical Assessment team is expected to undertake a visit to Zimbabwe from July 17 to July 13, 2024 to appreciate, first-hand, the progress made in preparation for the 44th SADC Summit to be held from August 8- 18, 2024,” he said.

“During the visit, the assessment mission will engage with the technical committees responsible for the summit preparations and finalise logistical and other relevant issues.

“The mission will also seek an update on the country’s state of preparedness to host the SADC Industrialisation Week that will be convened from July 28 to August 2, 2024 at the Harare International Conference Centre.”
