THE Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) is hosting the 2024 National Gender Forum across the country’s ten provinces.
The forum starts tomorrow and runs until September 13 under the theme ‘Gender, Environment and Climate Change: Building Resilience and Sustainable development through Gender Equality’.
In a statement, ZGC said the 2024 National Gender Forum will identify environmental and climate change challenges in Zimbabwe.
The commission said it seeks to understand the gendered impact of environmental degradation and climate change in Zimbabwe. It also proffers recommendations for building resilience and promoting sustainable development through mainstreaming gender and increasing awareness on environment and climate change issues.
“The 2024 National Gender Forum will be convened as per tradition and in accordance with Section 8 (1) of the Zimbabwe Gender Commission Act which states that the venue of the gender forum shall rotate annually through every provincial centre of Zimbabwe in any order as determined by the Commission,” reads a statement from ZGC.
“The 2024 National Gender Forum will be held in Gwanda, Matabeleland South, on September 13, 2024. The forum shall be attended by experts, activists and individuals with knowledge and experience in gender, environment and climate change.
“It will be preceded by nine provincial gender forums, which will gather local insights on environmental and climate change impacts. These provincial meetings will inform discussions at the national forum.”
