President Mnangagwa and Ghana’s President, John Mahama, presided over the signing of the 10 MoUs following the inaugural session of the Zimbabwe–Ghana Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC).
The meeting marked the culmination of the first JPCC session and established a framework to guide future collaboration.
The MoUs cover key areas including tourism, agriculture, education, science and technology. Agreements were also signed on political and diplomatic consultations and on cooperation between the Zimbabwe Foreign Service Institute and its Ghanaian counterpart in research, training, and documentation.
Other MoUs include cooperation in health, energy, tourism, archives, and sports, as well as collaboration on the Museum of African Liberation. Additional agreements were signed between ZimTrade and Ghana’s Export Promotion Authority, and between Geo-Pomona Waste Management Private Limited of Zimbabwe and Jaspong Group of Companies of Ghana.
“This State Visit heralds the beginning of a new era in Zimbabwe–Ghana relations, anchored on economic cooperation, strategic partnership and the shared determination to improve the lives and livelihoods of our peoples,” said President Mnangagwa.
He added that the two leaders discussed ways to deepen cooperation across trade, investment, mining, agriculture, energy, health, sports, and education, while also reaffirming their commitment to stronger African unity and the goals of Agenda 2063. Mnangagwa further expressed Zimbabwe’s appreciation for Ghana’s support for the removal of illegal and unjustified unilateral sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.
