Three professional Zimbabwean golfers who were part of the fourth and final round of the 2022 Safari Tour third leg at the par 72 PGA Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge Kilifi County in Kenya which ended yesterday, failed to make it to the top.
Kenyans, Greg Snow and Daniel Nduva finished tied for first position which saw the pair engage in a three-hole play-off to determine the winner and Nduva won.
Visitor Mapwanya, Nyasha Muyambo and Robson Chinhoi finished in position five, seven and eight respectively at the end of the fourth round. Mapwanya is the only one who made an upward movement having begun the final day on position 10.
A recent winner of the Malawi Open, Mapwanya finished with round scores of 81, 74, 73, and 70. In the last round, Mapwanya shot two under par 70 for his 298 gross total on the series. He however finished on 10 over par and this came after the Zimbabwean had had a bad start to the championship.
On the leaderboard after day one, Mapwanya was tied in position 31 with a score of 81 and nine over par. He, however, managed to make the final cut after completion of day two where he moved upwards to position 17 with a gross total of 155 and 11 over par after scores of 81 and 74.
Going into the final round which was yesterday, the Zimbabwean golfer was in position 10 after day three with a gross total of 228 points and 12 over par. Shooting two under par 70 in his last round, he jumped to position five, which was the best by any Zimbabwean participating at the event and finished tied with Ugandan Ronald Rugumayo.

His counterpart, Muyambo, who won the previous edition in Limuru, fell one spot backward to finish in position seven with a gross total of 299 points. He had a final round score of 74 and two over par for his total of 229 and 11 over par.
Chinhoi fell three steps back to position eight. He finished with a gross total of 300 points and 12 over par after a fourth round score of 78 and six over par. He had started the final day sitting in position five and ended tied in his position with Willy Deus from Uganda.
