Zimbabwe HPC suffer four run defeat to Uganda

ZIMBABWE High Performance suffered a four run defeat at the hands of Uganda in their second match at the ongoing Kwibuka Womens T20I Tournament 2025 in Rwanda.

Zimbabwe secured a victory six-run victory in the opening match of the tournament on Tuesday.

Out to maintain their winning run, Zimbabwe High Performance Centre Women won the toss and opted to bowl against Uganda on Thursday morning.

The Zimbabwe HPC had an early breakthrough, claiming three wickets inside the half-way mark of the batting innings of Uganda.

Passionate Munorwei claimed Zimbabwe’s first wicket with the first ball of the third over dismissing Illoku Esther for a single run.

Christabel Chatonzwa was to claim tow wickets in the 10th over, bowling out Janet Mabaza before Immaculate Nakisuyi.

Zimbabwe were to claim two more wickets in the last 10 overs.

Uganda lost their fourth wicket in the 11th over following a run-out of Rita Musamali while Chatonzwa claimed her second wicket of the day with a dismissal of Proscova Alako in the 17th over.

Uganda were restricted to 105 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing a target of 106 runs, Zimbabwe had fine start to their innings scoring 37 runs before losing two wickets to Consylate AwekoNimungu with the last two balls of the sixth over.

Chatonzwa was dismissed with an lbw before Natasha Mutomba was bowled out.

Zimbabwe went on to lose two more wickets before the half-way mark of their innings before losing five more wickets in the last ten overs, ensuring that Uganda claimed a victory.
