ZIMBABWE winger Edward Sigauke is finally starting to get his much-deserved recognition after the Sables’ international signed for Harlequins that plies their trade in the top tier English rugby league.
Siguake’s signing was announced on Thursday with the Zimbabwe international the club’s latest signing ahead of the 2026/27 season.
A graduate of Zimbabwe’s junior development, Sigauke made his international debut for the Sables back in 202 and has since gone on to earn 12 caps for his country.
He was a key member of the Zimbabwe squad that lifted back-to-back Africa Cup titles and, most recently, made waves during the Sables’ debut at the World Rugby Nations Cup, underlining his pedigree on both the continental and international stage.
A product of Lomagundi College, Sigauke went on to represent Emeris University, where his performances helped fire the side to Varsity Shield glory in 2025.
His electric pace, elusive footwork, and try-scoring instincts have marked him out as one of the most exciting young wingers to emerge from Zimbabwean rugby in recent years.
Sigauke will officially join up with his new teammates from next week ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
“Eddie is a player we have been tracking, and we are really pleased to get his signing over the line,” said Harlequins head Coach Jason Gilmore.
“He’s got tremendous speed and footwork that makes him a real handful for any defence, and we believe he’s got all the raw tools to become a weapon for us out wide.
“What excites us most is his potential.
“He is still developing as a player, and we can’t wait to see how he grows within our environment as he takes the next steps in his career.”
Speaking on his move, Sigauke said: “I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to join Harlequins and everything that comes with it.
“I can’t wait to get started, to push myself, and grow both as a player and as a person within this squad.
“Adding value to the jersey means a lot to me – it’s not just about my own performance, it’s about contributing to something bigger and helping the team achieve what we’re capable of.
“I have spent time speaking with Gilly (Jason Gilmore) and I’m really bought into the brand of rugby he’s wants to build.
“It is ambitious, exciting, and it’s a style that suits how I want to play.
“This is a new chapter for me, and I want to make the most of it – working hard every day, learning from the players and coaches around me.”
