IT was a successful weekend for Zimbabwean players plying their trade in Europe as all their teams recorded league wins while one drew.
None of the Zimbabweans scored, however.The weekend also saw former Bantu Rovers and Highlanders junior Marvellous Nakamba making it to the first team although he was an unused substitute in the Netherlands side, Vitesse’s nil-all draw with top side Feyenoord.
Nakamba had been struggling to make it even to the bench as he tries to adjust to Dutch football.
In Belgium, Vusa Nyoni came in the 72nd minute for Loris Brogno as Mons went on rampage and beat visiting Racing Mechelen 3-0 and in the process took their points tally to 24 points.
Former AmaZulu leftback Costa Nhamoinesu, one of the key players in the Czech Republic side Sparta Praha’s dressing room, was part of the squad that beat Slovacko 2-0. They remain in second place with 31 points from 14 matches.
In Denmark, former Motor Action striker Quincy Antipas was yellow carded in the 60th minute as his newly promoted side Hobro beat Brondby 3-0. Antipas once turned out for Brondby.
Silas Songani, also playing in Denmark for Sonderjyske was an 83rd minute introduction for Marvin Pourie as they went on to record a 2-1 win over OB, taking their points to 18 after 14 games.
