Zimbabwe-Kenya met for Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation

SENIOR officials from Zimbabwe and Kenya gathered for the 4th Session of the Zimbabwe-Kenya Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC) held on Sunday.

Zimbabwe and Kenya’s friendly relations continue to strengthen, as evidenced by, among other things, the ongoing exchange of high-level visits and the constant participation of both Presidents in numerous forums.

This year, Kenya’s President William Ruto will open the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

In the statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade said the acting Secretary, Ambassador Rofina Chikava, emphasized the longstanding bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and Kenya, which originated during Zimbabwe’s war for independence.

“On a bilateral level, he praised the people of both countries for their unwavering determination and genuine kindness,” reads the statement.

The Ministry said the JPCC provides a unique opportunity to enhance bilateral ties by identifying and prioritizing areas of collaboration that are mutually beneficial.

“Director for Africa in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya, Ambassador Dennis Mburu said, the opening of diplomatic missions in their respective capitals in 1980 and 1983 is evidence of the long-standing and historical ties between Kenya and Zimbabwe,” reads the statement.
