Zimbabwe launches 16 Days of Activism against GBV

Zimbabwe today launched the 16 days of Activism against Gender-based Violence campaign ahead of the day which is commemorated on November 25 annually.

The campaign, will run from November 25 to December 10, under the theme “Investing to prevent violence against women and girls”.

This year, the focus is on the importance of investing in different prevention strategies to stop violence from its beginning.

Violence against women and girls remains the most pervasive human rights violation around the world.

According to statistics, one in every three women aged 15 to 49 in Zimbabwe have experienced physical violence at one point in their lives and about 1 in 4 women have experienced sexual violence since the age of 15.
