Zimbabwe launches Early Learning Policy to enhance quality education

THE Government on Tuesday officially launched the Zimbabwe Early Learning Policy (ZELP) to provide high-quality and relevant education to children under the age of 7.

The launch took place at Thornicroft Park Primary School in Ruwa.

The development of ZELP is driven by the objective of improving learning outcomes and nurturing the country’s human capital in alignment with the goals outlined in National Development Strategy 1.

The policy recognises the critical importance of early childhood education in laying a strong foundation for children’s holistic development and future success.

By implementing ZELP, the Government seeks to enhance the learning experiences of young learners, ensuring that they receive education that is appropriate to their age and developmental needs. The policy encompasses various aspects, including curriculum development, teacher training and support, parental involvement, and the provision of adequate resources and learning environments.
