THE Zimbabwe National Army extended its civil military aid to Jotsholo in Matabeleland North where it provided free health care to over 500 villagers.

The ZNA’s 1 Infantry Brigade in conjunction with 12 Infantry Battalion and Ministry of Health and Child Care conducted a medical outreach from army relations Colonel Alphios Makotore the exercise delivered quality health services to the community freely.

“The medical outreach programme was highly successful in the area as the ZNA personnel provided free medical services and treatment to more than 500 community members. The exercise was well received by the community with many locals expressing gratitude for the free medical care and attention provided by the army medical personnel. This also underscores the importance of collaboration between the military and civilian organisations in promoting health and development in the rural areas,” said Col Makotore.

Commander 1 Infantry Brigade Brigadier General George Chitsva said the military will continue assisting communities in their areas of need.

He said the civil military engagements can only be successful through the cooperation of communities.

Acting Chief Mabhikwa, expressed gratitude to the army for extending free medical treatment to communities as many people were assisted.

“We are grateful for the assistance that was given to the community. We hope that ZNA can spread the medical outreach programme to Lupane West since they were providing assistance to communities in Lupane East,” said Acting Chief Mabhikwa.
