Zimbabwe is ready to host the ICC Men’s One Day International (ODI) Cricket World Cup next year, and the Government will ensure that all necessary preparations are put in place to deliver a successful and memorable tournament, President Mnangagwa has said.
Addressing the Zimbabwe senior men’s cricket team at State House today (Wednesday), President Mnangagwa said the event offers the nation an opportunity to showcase its unique culture and hospitality.

Zimbabwe will co‑host the 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup alongside South Africa and Namibia.
“Looking to the future, my Government stands ready to provide the necessary guarantees and support for hosting the prestigious ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup next year,” President Mnangagwa said. “Zimbabwe, together with South Africa and Namibia, will co‑host the tournament. This presents a historic opportunity to showcase on the global stage the unique hospitality of our people and our passion for cricket.
“I therefore challenge all Zimbabweans to work with unity of purpose to deliver an event that reflects the highest standards of the game.”

President Mnangagwa also commended the Chevrons after their successful appearance at the Men’s T20 World Cup co‑hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February, where they reached the Super Eight stage, beating Australia and co‑hosts Sri Lanka during a fairytale run.
“The Chevrons showcased sporting prowess and were true ambassadors of Zimbabwe’s national character of resilience and an inherent warrior spirit,” President Mnangagwa said.
“As a team, you brought great honour to our motherland, Zimbabwe. Through your actions on and off the field, you positively profiled Zimbabwe to the world. The historic victory over Australia stands out as a defining moment in the Chevrons’ campaign. It was a victory that captured the imagination of the cricketing world and reignited national pride.”
