IN a bid to mobilise resources for the construction of a new police boarding institution, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) will host a fundraising golf tournament today at the Bulawayo Country Club.
The tournament is aimed at supporting the development of ZRP Umguza High School, which will be built in Matabeleland North, about 40 kilometres from Bulawayo near Ntabazinduna.
National police spokesperson, Paul Nyathi, said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to expand educational facilities under the police service.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is spearheading the construction of another police boarding school, ZRP Umguza High School, in Matabeleland North. As part of the fundraising efforts, a golf tournament to support the construction process will be held on 27 March from 07:00 hours to 20:30 at the Bulawayo Country Club,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
He said attractive prizes have been lined up for winners, adding that the new institution will complement the existing ZRP High School.
Members of the public and golf enthusiasts have been invited to participate in the event. Those interested, either individually or as teams, can contact the tournament convener, Ephraim Mashingaidze, for registration.
Commissioner Nyathi described the initiative as a noble cause aimed at strengthening the education sector within the police service.
