ZIMBABWE will face Afghanistan and Bangladesh in a busy multi-format tour of the United Arab Emirates from October to November, with the Chevrons set to compete across ODIs, T20Is and Test cricket.
The tour will begin with an ODI tri-series involving Zimbabwe, hosts Afghanistan and Bangladesh, with the Chevrons facing Bangladesh in the opening match on October 17.
Zimbabwe will then take on Afghanistan on October 19 before Afghanistan and Bangladesh meet in the final round-robin fixture on October 21.
The top two teams will qualify for the tri-series final scheduled for October 23.
Zimbabwe and Afghanistan will then shift focus to the shortest format, with a three-match T20I series scheduled for October 27 and 29, followed by the final match on November 1.
The two sides will conclude the tour with a two-Test series, with the first match set for November 5 and 9 and the second from November 13 to 17.
The extensive programme is expected to give Zimbabwe valuable exposure against quality opposition while allowing the national team to build depth across all three formats and adapt to different playing conditions.
Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Givemore Makoni welcomed the tour, saying the Tests would be particularly important as the country seeks more regular opportunities in the longest format.
“This is an important tour for Zimbabwe, offering our players high-quality competition across all three formats.
“The ODI tri-series will test us against two strong sides, while the two Tests are especially valuable as we continue seeking more regular opportunities in the longest format,” said Makoni.
