ZIMBABWEANS continue to make waves on the global entertainment scene, showcasing exceptional talent across music, television, film, comedy, and beyond.

One of the latest stars to emerge is UK-based Zimbabwean songstress, Linda Mudzenda, who recently captivated audiences on Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) and earned the coveted Golden Buzzer from the judges. A buzzer on the judges’ panel guarantees an act a place in the live semi-finals, bypassing the earlier rounds of auditions.

Having spent years as a backing vocalist for renowned gospel artistes, Mudzenda delivered a breath-taking performance that left the judges and millions of viewers in awe on Saturday.

Clad in a denim jumpsuit, she initially felt nervous on stage, but the judges’ encouragement quickly put her at ease.

“It has always been my dream to be on the BGT stage. I was nervous, emotional, and overwhelmed as everything was becoming a reality,” she shared, reflecting on her surreal experience.

For her audition, Mudzenda performed You Say by Lauren Daigle, a song that resonated deeply with her personal journey.

“It made me strong and tells my story,” she explained, showcasing her emotional depth and connection to the music.

When asked about her role models, she admitted she draws inspiration from multiple artistes.

“I can’t really say I have one specific role model. I draw my inspiration from different people. I have so many to mention, but I’ll come back with a list soon.”

As a seasoned backing vocalist, Mudzenda has learned valuable lessons from various artistes, shaping her into a diligent, humble and courageous performer.

“I adapt easily and I’m very flexible when working with others,” she said.

With her music career now in full swing, Mudzenda has already released her debut single, Mhinduro and has promised more to come.

“This is just the beginning, watch this space!”

Working as a support worker, she remains deeply grateful for the support from her family, friends, and colleagues.

“God has been good. I’ve seen His grace making life easier here,” she shared.

With her Golden Buzzer moment propelling her straight into the BGT semi-finals, she is calling on fellow Zimbabweans for support.

Talent shows like BGT have transformed countless contestants into international stars. Zimbabweans have also made their mark, with Blessing “Annatoria” Chitapa winning The Voice UK and Long John receiving a Golden Buzzer on America’s Got Talent.

Globally, talent competitions have launched the careers of Jennifer Hudson (American Idol), who went on to win an Academy Award, and Kelly Clarkson, who became a Grammy-winning artiste and TV personality after winning the inaugural season of American Idol.
