THE Zimbabwe senior men’s cricket squad has arrived in Scotland on the first leg of a tour that will also take them to The Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
Zimbabwe arrived in Edinburgh on Monday and will face the hosts in the first one-day international (ODI) tomorrow at The Grange. The second ODI will be at the same venue on Saturday.
Because Scotland are hosting Namibia in the second of two International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League Championship 50-over matches at The Grange, and rain has made all the other alternate venues in the Scottish capital unplayable.
The Grange is an indoor facility and Zimbabwe held their first practice session at the venue yesterday.
Ryan Burl, who is with the Zimbabwe academy side training and playing in England, joined the national squad on Monday night, while two other academy players Tarisai Musakanda and Richard Ngarava were expected in Edinburgh from Liverpool yesterday.
Zimbabwe last played Scotland during the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 tournament and won by 11 runs.
After the two ODI matches against Scotland, Zimbabwe will head to the Netherlands on Sunday, for three one-day matches in Amsterdam on June 21, 23 and 25.
After the European leg of their tour, the Chevrons will proceed to Sri Lanka for five ODI matches and one Test match.
The ODI matches against Sri Lanka are on June 30 and July 2, 6, 8 and 10, while the Test match begins on July 14. — ZimCricket.
